



With 1 in 4 women and 1 in 6 men affected by domestic violence during their adult lives, every workplace up and down the country is touched by vulnerable employees in crisis. Often going to work can provide an escape from violence and abuse for survivors and many see work as a haven.
Domestic violence impacts the workplace in absenteeism, poor performance, tardiness, lost productivity, turnover and ancillary recruiting and training costs.

Employers have a unique opportunity to address domestic violence by providing tools, assistance and resources for employees. Action by employers can be relatively simple and low cost but have a huge impact on an employee’s quality of life and their ability to contribute to the workplace. We have seen some of these ideas create significant change:
By taking action, members of CAADV play a key role in tackling the issue of domestic violence by raising awareness amongst employers and helping to promote the safety of survivors in the workplace.
