Julian Topping – NHS Employers
Programme Lead Health Work and Well being
Julian ran child care facilities for over twenty years before becoming a civil servant in his late thirties. He moved to NHS Employers when it was founded in 2005 and is now the Programme Lead for Health Work and Well being covering a wide remit of work including occupational health, health and safety, mental health, and all issues that impact on the health and well being of NHS staff.
Julian has been involved with UKCAADV since 2005 and is proud to have been asked to become an ambassador.
What NHS Employers and Julian do as Ambassador for CAADV:
NHS Employers has been a supporter of CAADV since 2005 and has run campaigns in the NHS to raise awareness of the issue with managers and staff.
We are currently working to raise awareness of domestic abuse as a health and well-being issue with senior managers and boards across the service. This work is led by our Director, Dean Royles, who was appointed the first male Champion in 2011.
We believe that we stand a better opportunity at a time of change in the NHS to deliver improved awareness of the issue of domestic abuse by tying it to the current wide ranging programme on staff health and well-being and by presenting it as not only an opportunity to do what is right for staff but also to have an impact on the financial and service delivery bottom line.
In the spring we shall be reviewing, revamping and re-launching our Domestic Violence website content as part of our efforts to persuade more NHS organisations to engage with the issue and take a lead in improving the prospects of their staff.
