“It's the people who make the business… If a member of your staff is affected by domestic violence: It's Your Business”
The Alliance: Employers Leading Change
The Corporate Alliance is the nationally recognised membership charity working with employers to lessen the impact of domestic violence in the workplace. Our vision is to work with every employer to provide them with practical and sector relevant tools to enable them to build a corporate platform for addressing domestic abuse. Violence is non-exclusive - it affects everyone, and it is within the hands of every individual and employer to seek a solution. The wellbeing of employees is a crucial aspect of corporate development and essential to maximising business productivity. .
Our collaborative work with employers throughout the country has not only saved lives and addressed the needs of employees who endure, perpetrate and witness violence, but also successfully assisted in the reduction in reducing the calculated cost domestic violence has to the UK economy.
The Corporate Alliance has a proven track record of working with employers making a difference to the health, work and well being of their employees and providing tools to ensure corporate risk against domestic violence is mitigated. One facet of our work merits particular attention: in the last year, the Corporate Alliance has assisted member and non- member companies eighty-five times to act on disclosures by employees of domestic violence, requiring immediate support for their safety. All of these employees are safe and in work and the risk to business mitigated.
The Corporate Alliance has a current membership of over fifty members and affiliate employers reaching over five million employees in the private, public and third sector. The Corporate Alliance has provided accredited training directly to over ten thousand employees, not to be counselors but to identify the warning signs and take action.
Research commissioned by the Corporate Alliance in 2012 indicated that 87% of employers want to address the needs of employees who endure domestic abuse and violence yet do not know how. That is what we do – the ‘how’ that saves lives.
Domestic violence costs the UK Economy 1.9 billion annually and affects working women and men every day. We work with employers in a be-spoke manner addressing the health and wellbeing of employers and safety in the workplace. Our work includes policies, protocols, communication streams, toolkits for practioners in HR and Wellness, tools for outcome measurement, accredited training and intranet web services.
